PMGSY
PMGSY is for new connectivity and upgradation works. From time to time, Govt has broadened the scope, increased quality and added maintenance obligations. In FY 18 budget, it promised to connect habitations of 100 people in left-wing affected areas. Rural roads program sets out to create large, inter-connected village communities where people commute, micro-enterprises can flourish and farm produce and other goods are easily accessed. New opportunities arise, eg. private sector can add proper linkages from farm to markets via local pickup points, cold-chain, storage & food processing units.

* A big jump in road length constructed from 36,449km in 2015-16 to 47,447km in 2016-17
* A big jump in funding in Budget 2016-17, due to changed funding, from 100% from Centre to 60% (except for NE region). Centre spent Rs 19,000cr, while States spent Rs 8,000cr and did their own construction.
