RSS-Rahul battle poised for a bitter end
Many people are writing pointless articles on this subject. As per your article, Apex court found in favour of RSS and dismissed charges of criminal conspiracy. People are free - at least in their own minds - to dismiss that verdict and start again. Bear in the mind the following:
1. The political system of the day had a hostile view of RSS. It banned RSS on suppositions. The same system extended political benefits to minorities, which went on to reinforce the views held by many Hindu associations. Can we say that it was wrong for these Hindu associations to hold resentments about the political establishment and express them? How can we call these views fascist?
2. Apex court did not find a case against RSS. A court verdict that was concluded soon after the murder is significantly more relevant than one to be decided 65-70 years later. Apex court will ask, what has changed in the interim that warrants this?
3. At the time of partition, Akhand Bharat was a very emotive topic of discourse. Should people or organisations of that time be condemned for holding and voicing views in support of it? To wit, does one's politics makes the organisation like RSS guilty of murder?
4. It is nonsensical to bring in JLN post-1961, IG, RajG, BJP, Emergency, Shah Bano, Ayodhya, defeat in Lok Sabha 2014, etc as all these happened after the murder.
It is very apt that political leaders and parties must either disown the charges or be sued for defamation. If they didn't care less about making baseless charges, then neither should anyone else be bothered about taking legal action.
Just to be clear, members of RSS are not morally responsible for MG's death. People opposed to MG's politics were not asking for MG to be murdered. A few went AWOL and acted on their own and not at the behest of the larger organisation.
Post-script: RahG has accepted that RSS was not involved in MG's murder.
